Geographic Location and Population
Butig is an island barangay, geographically located at the southern portion of the municipality of Salcedo. The barangay is bounded in the north by Leyte Gulf, on the Southey by the Municipality of Mercedes, on the East by Leyte Gulf facing Barangay Bua-bua, and on the West by Leyte Gulf, the nautical boundary between the municipality of Salcedo and Mercedes. Population: 228. Number of Households: 92. Neighbouring Barangays: Buabua, Balud.
