SALCEDO, EASTERN SAMAR – Iconic band Sponge Cola along with the provincial and local bands – CD and the Goons, Banda ni Manoy, Maleyssia, Dumfree Band, & Dearyo – were warmly greeted by the crowd despite the glum weather last night of November 7, 2023.
The concert was free and was held at the ESSU Salcedo Campus quadrangle; brought to the people by the Provincial Government through the efforts of Gov. Ben P. Evardone in celebration of the 58th Founding Anniversary of Eastern Samar.
Despite the cold and the rain, people thronged the quadrangle of ESSU Salcedo Campus. Students, staff from several other campuses, provincial board members, and municipal councilors were also in attendance.
The university through their Campus Administrator together with Salcedo MPS, Bureau of Fire Protection, Local Government Unit, SDERTS, Barangay Officials, SSC and ROTC officers and various organizations, worked together to ensure the safety of the concert attendees.
A designated entry and exit points to the venue were manned; attendees were inspected and the following items were strictly prohibited from being worn and brought to the area:
- Cap
- Facemask
- Ballpen
- Knife
- Perfume
- Gun
- Bottled water
- Shoulder bag
- Lighter
- Liquor
- Cigarettes
The concert was a success. It is indeed true that music is the most powerful form of communication and it unites us all.
