The Local Development Council (LDC) convened in a meeting held today, October 17, 2025, at the Municipal Social Hall, presided over by Atty. Melchor L. Mergal, Municipal Mayor and LDC Chairperson, together with Atty. Christian May L. Machica, Vice Mayor, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Department Heads, Punong Barangays, representatives from the Provincial Government, KALAHI-CIDSS, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and other local stakeholders.
The meeting centered on the introduction of the Annual Investment Program (AIP) for Fiscal Year 2026, which outlines the municipality’s priority programs, projects, and activities for inclusive and sustainable development. Discussions also included preparations for the upcoming Foundation Day Celebration, emphasizing coordination among departments and active community involvement.
Also in attendance was Sir Margarito Guasis, representative of Cong. Sheen Gonzales and Cong. Nonoy Libanan, who conveyed their message of support for the municipality’s development initiatives. They encouraged all Barangay Councils to submit project proposals aligned with their respective AIPs, reminding that necessary supporting documents must be included to facilitate proper evaluation and possible funding assistance.
Representatives from KALAHI-CIDSS likewise conducted an orientation on the Philippine Community Resilience Program (PCRP), highlighting strategies to strengthen community-driven recovery and resilience.
In the CSO and NGO segment, the council discussed the functionality of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the process of CSO accreditation, underscoring their crucial role in participatory governance and local development planning.
Updates were also presented on the Palanas Housing Project, which aims to provide safe and affordable housing for qualified beneficiaries, and the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN) under the Health Sector, focusing on improving nutrition and promoting public health across all sectors of the community.
The meeting reflected the unified commitment of local leaders, partner organizations, and national government representatives in driving the municipality toward sustained growth and good governance.
