The LGU of Salcedo re-opened its Jagnaya Beach to the public last July 25, 2019 after almost five months of closure caused by the COVID pandemic.
“Malipayon ako nga nag-abri na an aton beach” said Municipal Tourism Officer Linus Deguito, “it amon la hingyap hin buligan kami han mga tawo hit pag-mintinar ug pag ku-operar.
The decision to re-open the prime tourist destination was prompted by the need to improve the local economy coupled by the announcement categorizing the Eastern Samar Province as a COVID low risk area.
150 people every 12 hours will be allowed to visit the area which shall be open during Saturdays and Sundays only.
The LGU had released guidelines for the operation of the Beach Area which included enforcement of minimum health standards and the mandatory wearing of masks except when swimming and eating.
The guidelines also provide that visitors must first proceed to the registration area situated in the waiting shed along the junction in Brgy. Alog before being allowed entrance to the beach.
The visitors are required to secure a form upon registration which shall be presented to the resort owners; the same form shall also be presented in the registration area upon exit from the beach.
The Salcedo Disaster and Emergency Response Team along with Barangay officials from Jagnaya and Alog will be manning the registration area and will be monitoring the beach during its operation.
